Tip Tuesday: A great view for parades

Welcome to another Tip Tuesday!

This week, I wanted to delve a little more into something I talked about during a recent PhotoFriday post
As you can see from the photo above, standing on the Main Street train station balcony gives you a great view of the parade floats with no one in the way (if you can get on the rail).  This location also gives you a good view of Wishes! with Main Street in the foreground.

I really like this location when watching the Main Street Electrical parade.  You get a much better idea of the spectacle of the various floats when you can view them from a elevated position as opposed to standing at ground level where you can only see one side and probably nothing on top.

If you're into taking photos, the train station balcony also provides a great location for both head-on shots (as the floats are coming into Town Square) side shots, and wonderful zoom shots of the parade running going down Main Street.

Now that we're in the popular Christmas season, the train station balcony also is an idea location to watch Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Parade and the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade coming down Main Street from the hub.  If you do decide to use this spot, be mindful of the flagpole (like you see above) or the Main Street Christmas tree.  You don't want it blocking Cinderella Castle too much.  In the shot above, it's ok because the flagpole bisects the image and the subject is in front of the flagpole.  If I was taking a shot with a zoom lens down Main Street, I'd step to the right or left to position the flagpole to the left or right of Cinderella Castle.  The same thing goes with the Christmas tree.  Depending on where you're standing, I can completely block the castle and those beautiful lights.

I personally recommend standing to the right side of the balcony, closer to the new Mickey Mouse meet and greet location.  That way you can see Cinderella Castle in the background and you'll have a nice head-on shot as the floats begin to make their turn around Town Square.

Oh, if you do plan to watch from this spot, you'll want to be in place early -- at least an hour before the parades start -- and please be understanding for disabled people.  You can stand behind them and still have a great view.

Enjoy!
